Summer becomes fall ... and you probably want the iPhone 6!

Hello! This year seems to have flown by. Most everyone has family members heading back to school, the stores are already selling winter clothes, and some you might be thinking about Christmas lights. In the world of tech gadgetry, there have been a couple huge announcements over the last couple of days. If you have any questions, are in need of advice, or are going to buy the new iPhone tomorrow, let me know.

Apple, as usual, has another beautiful product for us to buy. Is it worth it? I would say yes. The battery life is an improvement over all previous iPhone models. The new phone is also slimmer, faster, and will have 2 useful features which have not been on an iPhone before. First, it will have Apple Pay, which is essentially NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, that will finally make wireless mobile payments a reality. Retailers might take a bit of time to adapt, but largely, the tech is already in a lot of places that you shop. Combine Apple Pay with Touch ID fingerprint security, and you have a powerful, and arguably more secure option than even the chip & pin system currently standard on credit cards in Europe. Second, the iPhone 6 will have VoLTE (Voice Over LTE). This will allow normal cell phone calls to be made over Wifi, without using FaceTime or setting up an antenna array of coat hangers and tin foil to get cell signal ;)

Apple's new operating system for your Mac will also be launching soon. It is called Yosemite. If you have any iOS device, it will be well worth your time to upgrade the operating system and all your devices this fall, as well as your computer. Apple has finally arrived at a point where your devices can communicate with one another easily, share data, and create a more fluid tech environment for you to work and live in. If you have any questions regarding upgrading, or questions on whether or not current Pro software will work with the new operating system, let me know. Once Yosemite and iOS 8 become available, I'll send around another email to let you know :)

Also, if you don't have one, you should probably get a hard drive to use as a Time Machine disk to back up your Macs. With lots of photos and projects from the summer and the approaching holiday season, it would be a shame not to know that your data is safely backed up somewhere. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing when it comes to the intangible files that mean so much to us these days.

Happy almost Fall, everyone!
